Barnsden House
It’s rare you go and look at a property and you see a view to die for. Well this property has it and I looked at it last year in September on a beautiful blue sky clear day, I could see Eastbourne from Duddleswell. With such a fantastic location I really wanted to win this tender.
I got on very well with the architect and clients and we hit it off straight away and a few months later we were starting work on a major refurbishment of the property and a 3 storey basement extension. Because of the time of year we decided to carry out the works the other way round, start and finish the refurbishment work first and then start and complete the 3 storey extension in March this year. We didn’t want to be digging out 100 tonnes of dirt in rainy January so that’s what we are doing.
The refurbishment works consist of a new mono pitch roof over a redesigned local stone walling with extensive internal demolition installed new steel beams with new rooms, new window openings, fireplaces and walls. The ground floor and first floor being 80% redone and is coming together nicely. (See pics) There are 2 new wood burning stoves going in and one refurbished bus stop fireplace all with new hearths and walls. (see pics) New rooms are being formed on the ground and first floors to create utility rooms, pantry, boot room, TV room and snug and up on the new reformed staircase more bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms with purpose made joinery for wardrobes and storage.
The bathrooms will have purpose made vanity and shelving units that will be tilled and painted All new electrical re wiring and all new plumbing system has been started too.
Well thats where we are at right now, more pics and updates as we progress.
