A different sort of project for us in that it’s for a commercial client. We don’t do much commercial work as we concentrate mainly on large 2 storey extensions and refurbishments, but this one was a good challenge: To build a new office for a busy composting site in the style of a country barn.
The clients decided they were going to do their own groundworks and drainage on this project so we helped them with this and then got the brickwork underway. (see pic) After the brickwork was completed the roof trusses were loaded on one at a time using a crane. (see pic) With the trusses fixed and braced the roof could then be tiled using a cottage mix tile.
The block work was battened and counter battened then class with cedar featheredge timber to give it the final barn look. (see pic) Doors and windows were fitted and sealed then a walk way was constructed all the way round the building with wheelchair access. (see pic) Work then began on the inside.
A new kitchen and utility room was fitted out to give the staff their home comforts with the office on the end to cover the ongoing deliveries that come in. (see pic) A meeting room was constructed and a disabled toilet along with a WC and shower room.
The clients were really pleased with what we achieved for them and the staff now have plenty of room to work.
