The owners of this four-bedroom house were finding life cramped and asked us to create more space for their growing family. With the architect we developed a design that incorporated a large lounge and main bedroom with en-suite and a large family bathroom as well as increasing the size of two of the existing bedrooms. The extension took in the site of the existing single garage but the local authority planning department insisted a double garage be incorporated into the plans so this was accommodated along with another spacious room above.
We were able to advise on and source excellent materials, taking care to match the yellow brick of the existing house. A wood-burning stove was installed in the lounge with oak laminated wooden flooring laid throughout the ground floor. In the garage we installed the latest electric roller shutters to give a really air tight seal.
To make the most of the limited space in the smaller bedrooms we used ‘pocket doors’ instead of conventional hinged doors. This system enables the door to slide into the wall and not intrude into the rooms they connect.
This project was started in September and was secure by December. In all it took 22 weeks to complete and the clients were extremely happy with what we achieved for them.
